Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

As the Principal Pharmacist and Medicines Safety Officer, you will:

  • Develop and Implement Safety Processes: Ensure the safe and secure storage of medicines across all hospital areas. Collaborate with Clinical Services Leads to establish and maintain high standards of pharmaceutical care.
  • Lead Investigations: Oversee and participate in investigations related to medication errors, trends, and incidents. Provide comprehensive action plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Interpret and Embed Safety Practices: Apply national and local safety guidelines, such as safety alerts, to ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Expertise in Electronic Prescribing: Offer your expertise to ensure the safe development and implementation of electronic prescribing systems within the Trust.
  • Medicines Safety Officer Duties: Act as the Medicines Safety Officer for the Trust. Chair the Medicines Safety Group subcommittee of Drug and Therapeutics, and collaborate with the local NW MSO group to adopt and implement best practices.
