Job Summary
An exciting opportunity awaits for a Specialist Surgery Pharmacist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This role offers a unique chance to develop a career in Surgery, working across three hospitals, and collaborating with dynamic pharmacy and surgical teams. The successful candidate will engage in a clinical role across various surgical specialties, deliver education and training, and gain valuable experience in audit, quality improvement, and medicine safety.
Main Duties of the Job
- Rotating between St Mary’s, Hammersmith, and Charing Cross hospitals to provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to surgical wards.
- Ensuring the safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines.
- Undertaking quality improvement projects to enhance efficiency in surgical admissions, discharges, and medicine safety.
- Conducting medicine expenditure surveillance and ensuring appropriate use of medicines through audits and service evaluations.
- Supporting and developing trainee pharmacists, band 6 pharmacists, and medicines management pharmacy technicians.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
- Essential: Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, CPD portfolio maintenance, Certificate in Pharmacy Diploma or equivalent postgraduate experience, and General Pharmaceutical Council membership.
- Desirable: Full Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent postgraduate qualification, non-medical prescribing qualification.
Experience
- Essential: Post-registration training and experience in hospital pharmacy, with a solid grounding in all aspects of practice.
- Desirable: Experience in drug expenditure reporting and delivering training and education.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Essential: Ability to organise and prioritise work, influence senior staff, and use computer systems proficiently.
- Desirable: Experience with electronic prescribing systems.
