Job Summary
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a forward-thinking and ambitious clinical pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Department. This exciting opportunity involves providing advanced clinical services to our newly restructured general medicine cohort, ensuring that patient care remains at the forefront of our operations.
Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for a dynamic and adaptable team leader to promote the organisation and governance of general medicine patients within the hospital. Responsibilities include direct patient care for a designated patient group within general medicine and professional oversight for a team of rotational pharmacists. The role requires collaboration with the pharmacy team, multidisciplinary healthcare team, discharge planning services, and operational colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting patient flow and capacity, driving service change, and development. This position offers the chance to advance both your career and the services we provide to patients.

Additional Information for Applicants
- Internal applicants on permanent contracts can only apply as a secondment and must have their current line manager’s approval.
- Due to Home Office immigration rules, this full-time permanent vacancy is not available to individuals on a Student visa unless specific conditions are met.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Essential: Master’s degree in Pharmacy, registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), a diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/General Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent), and registration as an independent prescriber or commitment to achieving this.
- Desirable: MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, membership with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, and advanced stage II faculty membership.
Experience
- Essential: Significant post-registration experience, patient consultation, experience as a clinical pharmacist at band 7 or 8a, documentation in medical notes, professional report writing, drug policy development, clinical audit, antimicrobial stewardship, high-cost/high-risk medicine management, and project leadership.
- Desirable: Hospital experience in a teaching environment, independent prescribing, pharmaceutical/educational publications, drug expenditure analysis, and horizon scanning.
Knowledge and Skills
- Essential: Knowledge of NICE, Health Education England (HEE), NPSA guidance, UK healthcare systems, NHS changes, and proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, pharmacy computer systems, and electronic prescribing IT systems. Excellent organisation, communication, and consultation skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure and teach/train diverse staff groups.
