Faculty Overview

The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is at the forefront of empowering pharmacists to expand their professional capabilities. The focus of our pathway is to enhance pharmacists’ competence in optimizing medicines for individuals with severe mental illness (SMI) and related physical conditions. Through active and collaborative learning, particularly Team-Based Learning (TBL) delivered online, we aim to develop independent advanced practitioners equipped with the necessary clinical, consultation, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the pathway lead to organize, develop, and deliver the Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist Training Pathway, funded by an NHS England contract.
  • Enhance our sector-leading postgraduate teaching in Clinical Pharmacy, contributing to the ongoing learning of current and future cohorts.
  • Play an active role in curriculum development, ensuring our programs remain at the cutting edge of pharmacy education.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Prior experience in teaching pharmacists or pharmacy students, particularly in the context of mental health or primary care.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification is required.
  • Applicants should have a background in patient-facing roles. An independent prescribing qualification is advantageous.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to teaching and curriculum development is essential.
