Summary

As the Chief Pharmacy Technician at NHS Jobs, you will operate at a strategic level, providing professional leadership and management for medicines management services and the technical pharmacy workforce. This role entails encouraging innovative practices, ensuring compliance with professional standards, and representing Trust Pharmacy Services/ medicines management at local and national levels.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Management: Provide operational and strategic leadership for medicines supply and ward/unit-based medicines management technician services. Ensure adherence to Trust policy and implement effective systems for safe and efficient service provision.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with external partners to support the ongoing development of the technical and wider pharmacy workforce. This involves providing education, training, and development opportunities.

Compliance and Assurance: Ensure compliance with professional standards and statutes. Conduct audits and performance assessments to provide assurance on service quality. Support and develop staff to ensure competence, motivation, and optimal deployment across inpatient and community-based services.

Medicines Safety: Work closely with and deputize for the Medicines Safety Officer at Trust and system level meetings. Hold senior manager responsibility for pharmacy stock management and dispensing systems.

Strategic Direction: As a member of the Senior Pharmacy Management team, set the strategic direction and assist in the development and performance management of the Pharmacy Service. Support/lead operational and strategic workforce development, transformational initiatives, and identify business and productivity opportunities.

Projects and Deliverables: Directly work on and oversee the delivery of key medicines optimization and transformation projects, ensuring key deliverables are achieved within dedicated time frames.

Line Management: Hold line management and supervision responsibility for senior technical and other staff.

Pharmaceutical Services: Practice as a registered pharmacy technician occasionally, including participation in weekend/public holiday rotas.
