Summary
As the Lead Pharmacist in Gastroenterology, your role involves overseeing the day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services within the Gastroenterology department. Your primary responsibilities include developing and evaluating clinical pharmacy services tailored to meet the specific needs of the Unscheduled Care Division’s Gastroenterology specialty.
You will establish a framework for the safe, effective, and economical use of medicine resources in the specialized clinical area, employing robust medicines management and clinical governance principles. Your expertise will extend to maintaining highly specialized knowledge in medicines used for treating gastroenterology conditions, positioning you as a key resource for the department/Trust within this specialized clinical pharmacy domain.
Ensuring a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service aligns with the established service objectives. Regular monitoring, auditing, and evaluation of clinical pharmacy service provision to the specialist area will be part of your routine, providing valuable feedback to maintain and enhance service quality.
Your role extends to contributing to the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, under the guidance of the Lead Pharmacist Antimicrobials. Additionally, subject to the necessary qualifications, you may be involved in prescribing within the framework of Trust policies and procedures.
