Job Summary

Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic pharmacist seeking a meaningful opportunity to make a significant impact?

Royal Papworth Hospital invites you to join our esteemed team, providing top-tier pharmaceutical care in our renowned specialist cardio-respiratory centre. The pharmacy department is integral to our cutting-edge, digitally enabled hospital.

In this exciting new role, you will lead the provision of advice to patients regarding the peri-procedural management of their medications. You will work primarily in our multi-professional pre-admission clinic, supporting patients scheduled for cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures or minimally invasive heart valve replacements in the catheter laboratory. Alongside delivering exceptional care in the clinic, you will train junior pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in peri-operative medicines management and fulfill a minor ward-based pharmacy role in surgical or critical care settings.

We celebrate diversity within our department and value the unique contributions of each team member. We support flexible and part-time working arrangements, tailoring working patterns to meet the needs of both individuals and the service.

Main Duties of the Job

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct independent consultations with patients in the pre-admission clinic, offering guidance on peri-procedural medication management and making appropriate prescribing decisions.
  • Lead the development of guidelines and policies within your area of expertise.
  • Provide training and mentorship to professionals on peri-operative medication management.
  • Maintain a minor ward-based pharmacy commitment within the surgical pathway.

Beyond your clinical responsibilities, you will play a crucial role in promoting safe medication management within Outpatients and Day Ward environments. You will have the chance to lead quality improvement initiatives or research projects and deliver training sessions to various staff groups.

As a senior member of the pharmacy department, you will manage a small team of pharmacists and contribute to our senior pharmacist team. We are committed to the development of line managers and offer access to leadership development programs to enhance management and leadership skills.

If you are passionate about delivering outstanding pharmaceutical care and thrive in a collaborative and innovative environment, we want to hear from you.
