Summary

NHS Jobs is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team and support the PCN Clinical Pharmacist in delivering the new Clinical Pharmacy in General Practice model. The successful candidate will play a vital role in medicines management, conduct prescribing audits, and contribute to the enhancement of patient care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Carry out medicines switches in GP practices, adhering to agreed protocols and reviewing patient records.

Conduct housekeeping in patient records, optimizing doses, and synchronizing medications.

Enhance prescribing processes in general practice and promote electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering.

Report key performance indicators for Clinical Pharmacy in General Practice, aligning with NICE guidance.

Utilize and maintain information systems relevant to the position, including incident reporting and patient outcomes.

Collaborate closely with GP practices, CCG Clinical Pharmacy lead, and other stakeholders.

Participate in practice meetings, patient participation groups, and other engagements to improve the role of pharmacy technicians.

Liaise with pharmacy stakeholders such as CCG Medicines Optimisation team, community pharmacy, and hospital pharmacy teams.

Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with data protection guidelines.

Take responsibility for organizing and planning workload to meet deadlines.

Utilize GP practice clinical systems for prescribing audits, contributing to practice improvements.

Act on major MHRA drug alerts within the level of competence and advise on medication changes.

Monitor prescribing expenditure at practice level and propose changes for containment within identified resources.

Undertake learning and development to ensure necessary knowledge and skills for practice-based work.

Carry out other duties appropriate to the skills and competencies of the post holder as service priorities change.
