Summary

As a Specialist Pharmacist in Medicines Information (MI), you will collaborate with the Principal Pharmacist, MI, to deliver advanced MI services to the Trust. Your responsibilities include independently handling complex queries from healthcare professionals and patients, analyzing intricate and conflicting data to ensure safe and cost-efficient use for optimal patient care. Initiate, implement, and maintain MI service developments, such as real-time entry into a national electronic database (MiDatabank).

Key Responsibilities

Answer complex MI queries independently, ensuring safe and effective patient care.

Actively contribute to MI service development, including real-time entry into MiDatabank.

Conduct regular quality assurance of MI queries, maintaining high standards defined by UKMi.

Follow up on queries not meeting standards, rectify errors, and provide counseling to MI staff.

Maintain and update the in-house MI database, research new information, and remove obsolete data.

Participate in the clinical pharmacist check scheme in the Dispensary.

Inspect drug storage facilities, including controlled drugs, on wards and departments.

Advise medical and nursing staff on legal control, safe custody, and security of drugs.

Ensure compliance with current laws related to pharmacy and medicines within the Pharmacy Department and on wards/departments.

Co-operate in the development and operation of the Trust’s drug formulary.

Participate in the drug recall system in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

Operate computerized systems for recalling and processing clinical pharmacy data.
