Summary

As a Senior Rotational Pharmacist, your role involves maintaining a high level of generalist pharmaceutical knowledge while actively developing and maintaining specialist expertise in a chosen specialty. This includes providing support, education, and development to junior pharmacists. Your responsibilities extend to offering professional, managerial, and clinical leadership to the pharmacy team, ensuring compliance with medicines legislation and alignment with patient-focused principles.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain specialist therapeutic and pharmaceutical knowledge.

Provide leadership to the pharmacy team in delivering pharmaceutical services.

Support and mentor Foundation Pharmacists for leadership development.

Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring pharmacy services.

Ensure compliance with Key Performance Indicators and medicines legislation.

Manage day-to-day activities of pharmacy staff for a safe and effective service.

Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and guidelines.

Review adverse clinical incidents and support strategies for risk minimization.

Provide Medicines Governance support within the multidisciplinary team.

Interpret financial reports on medicines use and advise on cost-effective practices.

Clinical Practice

Actively participate in ward rounds, providing real-time prescribing support.

Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior pharmacists and students.

Monitor pharmaceutical supply and medicines optimization services.

Ensure seamless pharmaceutical care during admission and discharge.

Medicines Management

Support clinical risk management activities in medicine use.

Participate in training and education of healthcare professionals and patients.

Contribute to the development of medication use protocols and policies.

Audit, Research, and Development

Participate in multi-disciplinary research or audit within the clinical practice area.

Take prescribing responsibility and develop specialism in a designated therapeutic area.

Education and Training

Provide training in prescribing for medical staff and pharmaceutical care for various grades.

Deliver education and training to pharmacy and other staff, patients, and their carers.

Fulfill General Pharmaceutical Council CPD requirements and support managed staff.
