Job Summary

NHS Jobs is seeking a proactive and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our Primary Care Network (PCN) Team. This role involves working closely with PCN Clinical Pharmacists, fellow Pharmacy Technicians, and our prescribing teams. The successful candidate will be adept at working both independently and collaboratively to deliver optimal service. Meeting the essential criteria in the job specification is a must.

Key Responsibilities

Processing Repeat Medication Requests: Manage repeat medication requests, including converting acute requests to repeat prescriptions and adjusting medication quantities.

Building Positive Relationships: Establish and maintain effective communication with the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), network practices, integrated care health teams, and local voluntary sector organizations.

Documentation: Record all interventions made to patients’ medications in their health care records to ensure clear audit trails and accountability for changes.

Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical and clinical support to ensure the safe, accurate, and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients, while also addressing and resolving any patient queries.

Duties and Responsibilities

Adherence to Protocols: Follow agreed practice prescribing standard operating procedures.

Prescription Processing: Handle repeat medication requests and prepare prescriptions efficiently.

Medication Queries: Address medication-related queries, providing appropriate advice and guidance.

Processing Discharge Summaries: Update medication changes based on discharge summaries, 111 reports, and clinic letters.

Maintaining Compliance: Ensure compliance with established protocols and guidelines.

Collaboration: Work effectively within practice prescription teams and maintain communication with the broader practice multidisciplinary team (MDT) and community pharmacies.
