Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned, dynamic, and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to head our cardiology and cardiothoracic service. This role demands expertise in cardiac medicine and involves being an integral member of a multidisciplinary team.

You will be supported by our Senior Pharmacist for Cardiac Services, along with rotational pharmacists, medicines management technicians, and a medicines management assistant. Your primary responsibility will be leading the provision and enhancement of clinical and operational pharmaceutical services at our state-of-the-art Heart and Lung Centre, which serves over 1.3 million people in the Black Country area.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Lead Clinical Pharmacy Services: Manage and develop clinical pharmacy services for the cardiology and cardiothoracic directorates, overseeing clinical, governance, and operational functions.
  • Independent Prescribing: Act as an independent prescriber on wards and in outpatient clinics.
  • Multidisciplinary Meetings: Attend and participate in multidisciplinary meetings, offering expert pharmaceutical advice and guidance.
  • Specialist Advice: Provide specialist clinical pharmacy advice to patients and collaborate with consultant and nursing teams to ensure safe and appropriate prescribing.
  • Staff Management: Lead, manage, and develop the pharmacy staff delivering clinical services to the Cardiac Services Group.
  • Governance Meetings: Participate actively in Directorate Management and Governance meetings, working closely with Directorate Management Teams.
