Summary
The Lead Pharmacist for Diabetes and Endocrinology will play a crucial role in delivering on the Trust’s medicines optimization strategy, specifically focusing on the areas of Endocrinology and Diabetes. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, ensuring clinical governance, and providing assurance measures within the designated specialism.
The successful candidate will engage in continuous professional development, staying abreast of advancements in the field and applying highly specialist knowledge to enhance clinical services. Additionally, they will contribute to the development of protocols, guidelines, and participate in audits and research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Lead Pharmacist duties in Endocrinology & Diabetes.
Provide formal training/education for Pharmacy staff, healthcare professionals, and patients.
Undertake clinical management and drug treatment of designated patients when registered as a non-medical prescriber.
Manage and develop staff, stepping into the role of the Clinical Pharmacist Team Manager when necessary.
Construct and amend the weekly service cover rota as required.
Address issues requiring senior input as the most senior pharmacist available on-site.
The Lead Pharmacist will actively participate in the provision and development of pharmaceutical services to Warrington Hospital, Halton Hospital, and other units serviced by the Pharmacy Department under service level agreements.
