Summary

Job Title: Senior Lead Pharmacist

Grade: 8a to 8b DOE

Job Type: Permanent

Ward/Dept: Pharmacy

Location: Wycombe (other sites in Buckinghamshire may be required)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (plus Weekends, Emergency Duty Commitment, Extended hours services, and Statutory holiday duties on rota with other pharmacists)

Exciting opportunities await for an experienced Senior Lead Pharmacist (band 8a-8b) with one of our well-known client trusts in the home counties, caring for over half a million patients annually. To be successful, candidates need:

Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Post-graduate diploma/MSc in clinically based pharmacy or recognized equivalent

Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level

Delivery of pharmacy services to a range of specialties

Training experience for other pharmacy staff

Significant relevant Continuing Professional Development

Experience in education and training of others, including pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals

Responsibilities

Strategically develop, manage, and deliver the ICB formulary.

Coordinate trust input into an ICB formulary.

Develop and update key medicines management policies (Trust-wide and those impacting the ICP/ICB).

Ensure effective functioning of the Trust Medicines Value Group (as Professional Secretary).

Oversee, support, and monitor the entry onto the Trust formulary of NICE, NHSE, and key professional guidance.

Evaluate efficacy, safety, and cost impact of new medicines.

Develop, review, and update formulary-related clinical guidelines and shared care protocols.

Line manage the MRC Digital Transformation Technician.

Lead, direct, and support staff under management within the MRC team.

Provide support to the day-to-day Medicines Information/Advisory Service.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-cost medicines comply with NICE guidance.

Work with Pharmacy, Finance, commissioners, and external stakeholders to maximize high-cost medicine income.

Act as a lead for Immunoglobulin use within the Trust, collaborating with the Thames Valley IVIG panel.

Provide a Clinical Pharmacy service to wards and departments on a rota as needed.
